Button House is actually West Horsley Place, located east of Guildford in Surrey.
In circumstances similar to those of the show, the Grade I listed building was, in 2014, unexpectedly inherited by Bamber Gascoigne, the former host of the University Challenge, from his great-aunt, the Duchess of Roxburghe.
Other scenes were also shot in Guilford including London Road and Clandon Road, as well as exterior shots of the famous Bettys Tea Rooms in Harrogate.
