Jets add ‘stud’ guard Laken Tomlinson in big move to help protect Zach Wilson
The Jets want to surround young Zach Wilson with protection and playmakers. Their first free agent contract of 2022 addresses the former in a big way.
Guard Laken Tomlinson is heading to New York, sources confirm to The Athletic. It’s a three-year deal for the 30-year-old worth up to $41.2 million, with $27 million guaranteed. Contract details – payment structure, outputs, etc. – will not be available until the contract is entered into the NFLPA database.
Either way, it’s an important catch for general manager Joe Douglas as he works to solidify one of his team’s biggest weaknesses. Tomlinson was No. 20 on Sheil Kapadia’s ranking of the top 150 free agents.

Jimmy G watch
With every quarterback move in the league, the potential compensation the 49ers can get for QB Jimmy Garoppolo likely drops. A reduction in landing points for the San Francisco starter, who is expected to be traded, should mean less of a bidding war for his services. Could that make the Colts take a deal more seriously?

Packers re-sign De’Vondre Campbell
According to Sports Illustrated’s Bill Huber, co-host of our “Head of the Pack” podcast, the Packers are re-signing first-team All-Pro inside linebacker De’Vondre Campbell to a $50 million deal on five years. Campbell came out of nowhere as a one-year, $2 million summer signing to become one of the best linebackers in football. The Packers continue their busy day by locking up a massive defensive play.

A source has confirmed that the Titans have re-signed free agent center Ben Jones and added Seattle OT Jamarco Jones, both on two-year contracts. Ian Rapoport first reported the Ben Jones deal, Adam Schefter the Jamarco Jones deal. It’s a big deal to have continuity in the middle, and Jamarco Jones could be the starting RT. If so, Dillon Radunz should be the first to replace Rodger Saffold at LG.

Bears to sign DT Larry Ogunjobi to 3-year deal worth $40.5 million
Matt Eberflus’ 4-3 defense requires a three-technique defensive tackle, and Larry Ogunjobi will be that guy.
When asked at the combine what he was looking for in a threesome technique, Eberflus said: “It’s disruptive. You must be disruptive. You need to do a few things in three techniques. No. 1, you have to win your duel, okay? And when they get away from you, you have to be able to stay in gap B. It’s that simple. Those are the two things we’re looking for, and they come in all shapes and sizes. And you have seen it. But explosive athletic ability is the No. 1 trait.”
