Before we start, I’m guessing from the fact that you clicked on an article with “stranger things season 5“ in the title that you have already completed Season 4 of Stranger Things. But if not, I suggest you stop here, as there will be spoilers.
Still with me? Good. Now that Season 4 of Stranger Things has arrived on our screens in its entirety, for those of us who aren’t into the Upside Down, our gaze has turned to Season 5, where the ominous fate of Hawkins is in game. As the latest series of this Netflix hit debuts, we hope Stranger Things season 5 answers these 13 questionsbut personally, I have a big concern: with all the details that need to be ironed out, we’ll never find Steve his perfect girl.
One of my main issues with Season 4 of Stranger Things it was so scary. Yet part of the joy of writing creators Matt and Ross Duffer is that between the torture, the monsters, and the children flying through the air with bloody eyes and broken limbs, lie the human stories that bind us together. to these characters.
Over the past six years, kids have gone from kids playing Dungeons & Dragons to teenagers, with relationships, emotions, and that sheer awkwardness that we can all relate to so well. But will there still be time for character-driven stories like Steve and Dustin’s brilliant bromance, or the Nancy-Jonathan-Steve love triangle that baffled and entertained me between moments of terrifying gore?
And the Nancy-Jonathan-Steve love triangle?
I’m worried because in an interview with Collider (opens in a new tab), The Duffer Brothers said, “Season 5 is going to start pedaling the metal. We’re not going to ramp up. There is no time. There is no normality, obviously, once you reach the end of four. It’s not like we have time to explore the love lives of our characters, and how is Steve’s relationship going? There won’t be any of that, it’ll just go 100 miles an hour from the start.”
When we left the characters at the end of Season 4 Steve’s feelings for Nancy were clear, he told her she was the girl he had seen in his road trip filled dreams of the future. With Jonathan in California, we’ve had hours to watch the unresolved high school sweetheart story unfold in at-will drama.
Still, with Jonathan back at Hawkins, it looks like even if Steve doesn’t have any new dates in Season 5, we’ll surely be able to find out who’s living happily ever after with whom.
It’s important because I would say that it’s the relationships between the characters that are at the heart of this series. It’s love that keeps the characters running in the Upside Down.
It’s also what keeps viewers like me watching – the well-balanced, well-thought-out, and complicated characters are this show’s best feature. So let’s hope for more heartfelt moments in the final season, even if we get fewer photos of Steve’s fantastic hair.
